EuroChoir festival in the Czech Republic
7th - 15th July 2012
Dear singers, conductors, musicians, actors of the EuroChoir Festival 2012,
We spent a wonderful week together, full of beautiful singing, the extraordinary experiences of the rehearsals, concerts, trips to the beauties of the Bohemian Paradise. We have met new friends from 11 countries of Europe, Asia and Africa.
The festival was held after 31 years in the Czech Republic for the first time and for us, the organizers, was a big unknown.
We are even more pleased, that, despite of the minor problems that organizing such cultural events sometimes occur naturally, the festival received a very positive response not only among insider experts (conductors, composers), but also among the cultural audience in Lomnice nad Popelkou, Semily, Prague and further surroundings.
Thanks a lot for your active participation in the festival, Herculean efforts while practicing songs, vocal trainings and interpretation of the newly studied compositions during the final 3 concerts! Great honour especially to our excellent conductors - Franz M. Herzog and Jaroslav Brych, to our beautiful voice consultant and trainer Nadia Ladkany, always full of energy and also to a modest, but very good pianist, Irina Lorents.
Recognition also deserves everyone who participated in organizing the festival, starting from Sonja Greiner, General Secretary of the European Choral Association-Europa Cantat, representatives of the Czech Choirs Association (especially Jaroslav Vávra). Great thanks also to the representatives of cities Lomnice nad Popelkou and Semily, the Cultural and information centre of Lomnice and the High/Secondary School of Lomnice, who provided facilities for rehearsals, accommodation and meals for festival participants and also for concert performances.
I hope you have appreciated the nice singing week spent in the picturesque Bohemian Paradise and in Prague. We´d like to meet you at other festivals and events in the Czech Republic.
I wish you good health, a lot of success in both your job and personal life and mainly a lot of beautiful experiences in singing and listening to the choral music!
On behalf of the EuroChoir 2012 Festival Organizing Committee
RNDr. Zdeněk Kadlas,
The Czech Choirs Association in co-operation with the European Choral Association – Europa Cantat (ECA-EC) is organizing from 7th till 15th July 2012 already the 31st year of this unique choral event - EuroChoir 2012. For the first time ever, an exceptional youth choir consisting of 60 young singers from all over the Europe will be established in Lomnice nad Popelkou - a picturesque town in the so called Bohemian Paradise region. The common intensive choir work during the rehearsals will be crowned by three public concerts – in Lomnice nad Popelkou, Semily and Prague.
EuroChoir was established in 1982 and since then, every year a different country organises this event in order to promote cultural variety among young singers throughout Europe. This year the repertoire covers not only the old choral music, but especially modern pieces of sacred and secular music, including several folk songs as well (for details see the repertoire section). The rehearsals will be held under the leadership of highly professional conductors Franz M. Herzog (Austria) and Jaroslav Brych (the Czech Republic). For those members of EuroChoir 2012 interested in vocal training, a highly regarded vocal coach Nadia Ladkany (the Czech Republic) will be available for individual consultation.
The EuroChoir enriches its members not only from the musical point of view, but enables provides strong friendships of singers from all over Europe. In order to encourage the interpersonal relationships within this unique ensemble, sightseeing, cultural programme and other accompanying events are to be organised.
